The Charlotte Reel Soul Film Festival announces the call for entries for the
1st Annual Charlotte Reel Soul Film Festival,  October 2-4, 2008

Narrative features, documentaries and  shorts on film, video and digital media, which have been completed after January 1, 2007 may be submitted. Films should be written/directed or produced by an African or African American or feature Africans or African Americans in prominent roles.

It easy to be eligible for the $5,000 in prize money

Films must have been completed no earlier than January 1, 2007. Films may not have screened in Charlotte prior to the festival date. No film screened in Charlotte prior to the festival is eligible.

Following these regulations could get a couple bucks in your pocket

For review purposes, entries must be submitted on DVD . We probably will not have a lot of time to fiddle with your burned DVD that may not work – so check it three times before you send it to us. Submit as many titles as you want – just please treat each as a totally separate entry (don’t confuse us).

Getting it hear safely and on your dime will keep you in the running for the dough.

PACKAGING
Remember to ship your DVD in the safest possible method.

COSTS & LABELING
You cover all the costs for shipping to and from Charlotte and we will cover the prize money. Please label all tapes with the title and shippers name and return address. Since we are putting most of our funds into the prize money we can’t afford a psychic to figure out stuff that’s not properly labeled. Please label properly.

RETURN OF ENTRIES
Entries will NOT be returned unless a $10 separate return fee is received at the time of the entry (see Entry Form). You may also provide us with your FedEx or DHL account number, and we will return your tape by either of these services.
After Nov  30, 2008, unclaimed cassettes will be recycled. Every reasonable effort is made to protect films and tapes from damage or loss, but the Festival, its management and its juries cannot assume liability for damage or loss.

The Fun Part
A non-refundable entry fee must accompany each entry.
Fees: $35.00 (Primary Deadline: Postmarked by July 31st, 2008)
$45.00 (Final Deadline: Postmarked by August 15th, 2008)
Payment must be in US Funds, check or money order.

THE FESTIVAL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE
A $20 SURCHARGE FOR RETURNED CHECKS. (Let’s hope not)

The Email
If you made it into the festival – we will notify you by email no later than Sept 5th Any film considered for a festival award cannot have had commercial theatrical play domestically.

One More Thing
All precautions will be taken to ensure proper handling of materials submitted. The festival, its judges or its agents cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to any film or video entered or any materials submitted in the connection
therewith. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the festival, its judges and agents shall be held harmless from damages resulting from, or the loss of, film due to shipment of the film to the festival.
